Early Birthday Post

Tomorrow is my 32nd birthday and I have major plans so I don’t know if I will have time to post. I am so excited to celebrate! I am very blessed to have a family that makes my birthday extra special, even at my age. Birthdays are very special in my family. My mom jokes that it is my “birthday month” because we celebrate every day. There is just a lot that goes on in May and since it is during spring it makes everything even more intense. Yesterday I went with my mom to our annual lunch and shoe shopping birthday celebration. We usually drive down to Indianapolis and she buys me running shoes from the Athletic Annex on 86th street. I love that store! Then we do a little shopping and go to lunch. Although it seemed like an ordinary day to my mom, to me it was the perfect early birthday treat. I was absolutely in my body, living every moment and enjoying the company of my mom. Has it taken me 32 years to realize that THIS IS IT? This is my life right here and right in this moment? So many times when I am doing something I find myself thinking that “it will be better when I have my dream job” or “I wish I had worked out today and my pants felt looser”. Yesterday was none of that! It was so laid back and fun. We also explored new neighborhoods and roads that took us on a scenic route and avoided the new highway construction. I wanted to keep the feeling of yesterday forever because it was so innocent and loving. I have to trust that the universe will provide me with more of those moments. So, I had to let yesterday go but it was so beautiful. It was very reminiscent of my childhood or even in college when my mom would come to stay with me for the weekend. Of course, our challenge for my birthday every year is to see how much free stuff I can get. People always laugh when I talk about this but I thought it was something everyone did. I’m so serious. We did get a dessert with lunch and a girl at Whole Foods gave me a free espresso cookie. Now, I don’t just walk up to people and say “HEY, what you gonna give me?!” The fun part is to get the free stuff without directly asking for it or implying you want something. The man at the restaurant asked what brought us out on the beautiful day and when I told him he said he would like to give us a complimentary dessert even though it wasn’t my actual Birthday. The girl at the dessert counter at Whole Foods just noticed that I was eyeballing the cookie and gave me one. I didn’t even mention my birthday! See how wonderful the universe is?! After my walk in the woods today I stopped by moms office and she gave me my card early since I won’t see her tomorrow. I will be at the art museum and gardens for the day. I was so happy to come home to a cute WELCOME sign and card from my wonderful neighbor. I just love this time of year and I am so grateful to the people that love to help me celebrate this special day. I hope each and every one of you make your birthday a special day to celebrate. To me, it’s really the small things that make it so fun. You are a very precious gift from God and you need to be appreciated and celebrated! What do you do for yourself on your birthday?

Awe, Happy Birthday 🙂 Mine was yesterday.. And a total stranger offered me a peice of cake while I was having dinner. They had no clue it was my birthday, but I smiled and said, yes please 🙂 Wonderful when things like that happen.. Shows me I wasn’t there by chance alone – and not as alone as it may seem sometimes!

  2. Happy birthday and may all your wishes come true.Thank you for following my blog.Jalal
